The Farmshare

Think of it like a subscription to the finest seedlings and vegetables as long as the season runs.

Our Farmshare program will run for ~20 weeks, starting late-May and ending late-October. We offer full share and half shares to best suit your household size. Full shares will enjoy produce deliveries every week of the season, about 20 deliveries, while half shares will receive deliveries every other week, around 10 deliveries. New this year, we will be offering extra seedlings to our members who might like to grow along with us.

Some seasons run longer than others, and when that happens, we are happy to share the abundance with our farm family. When a season runs short, we offer members a partial refund or a sweet deal on next year’s farmshare.

Working for mother nature can be tricky, so dates may vary with the season. We’ll email you in May to let you know which way the boss is leaning, and again in October when it’s time to wind down the year.

Yep! It’s a CSA

Beyond simply buying food, this model seeks to share the whole harvest. Community Supported Agriculture, better known as CSA, was first formalized by Dr. Booker T. Whatley as a way to share the burdens and joys of farming with a community. His philosophy valued the food as much as the shared experiences the farm atmosphere created. He saw these clubs as a way to connect with family, a form of entertainment and education, and a way to promote land access. We share this philosophy at Trail Head Croft and invite you to get involved with your food this season as a part of your farmshare.

Farmshare Deliveries and Pick-up

How it works

Produce will be delivered every Wednesday during the CSA season to drop-off locations on a delivery route. This route will be set once sign-ups are confirmed based on members’ homes. It is your responsibility to pick up your share of produce from this location. Members should bring their own bags and plan to leave bins at their drop site. If you are interested in your porch or garage hosting farmshares this year, please let us know when you sign up. We will be adding farmer’s market pick-up options for members, new this year, so please let us know what market you prefer at sign-up.

Deliveries will be every Wednesday and unclaimed shares are donated to the host after 2 days.

We reuse! Return gently used containers with your bin.

Communications Agreement

Smooth logistics are enabled by smooth communication. Let’s help each other out this year!

Over the course of the season, email updates will let you know about what produce you got, when deliveries start and what’s happening on the farm. This will all be captured in a weekly newsletter that will accompany your delivery. Written comms are always preferred, for ease of reference, but calling, texting and emailing are all acceptable ways of reaching out.

If you need to cancel your delivery for the week, please reach out by the Monday before.

Volunteer Opportunities

Working the land can be very rewarding and we hope to share the experience with you. We’ll send you an email in April with planned volunteer days. All weather pending. Bring the family if you like!

Pay what makes you happy

Is this woke capitalism or lazy product research? After 4 years at this - it’s both! In any case, our farm does value all manner of joy in our transactions and for this reason, the cost of a farmshare is flexible. Pay in a lump sum at sign up or pay in installments over the course of the year.

Our suggested donation is $500 for a full share and $300 for a half share. We invite you to adjust this donation up or down as is comfortable to your financial situation, no explanations necessary.
